The papers
Paper 1
Composition and directed writing
The held papers allow 1 hour 45 minutes for two sections worth 20 marks each. Choose one composition in the first section and complete the directed task in the second, writing 250 to 350 words for each.
Paper 2
Comprehension, summary and structure
Three compulsory questions assess structure, comprehension and summary, each worth 20 marks, in two hours. The held comprehension sections mainly use selected responses with a short vocabulary task; this bank practises the same reading skills through structured responses. Summary limits and the order of sections vary, so follow the printed instructions.
