GCE Musical Arts Education
Music 6020 revision covering listening, analysis, aural skills, composition and choral harmony, with notation described in words.
The papers
Paper 1
Listening and analysis
The held papers combine unprepared listening or reading tasks with prepared analysis. Answers identify musical features and explain them using short written responses; the sections differ between years.
Paper 2
Harmony and composing
Five tasks develop composition, arrangement, harmonisation and score analysis. The 2017 paper also asks for an attached project manuscript.
Paper 4
Aural tests
The 2016 file catalogued as P3 is printed as Paper 4, Aural Tests. Six compulsory tests cover rhythm, melody, intervals, cadences, chord progression and modulation; these practice tasks use written descriptions rather than audio.
