The papers
Paper 1
Physics theory
Section A has twenty multiple choice questions, Section B structured questions and Section C a choice of longer questions, all on the physics part of the syllabus. Sittings before 2017 put the multiple choice for both parts in a separate paper.
Paper 2
Chemistry theory
The same three sections as Paper 1, on the chemistry part of the syllabus: multiple choice, structured questions and a choice of longer questions.
Paper 3
Practical test
Laboratory tasks on both parts of the syllabus, such as measuring, recording readings, simple calculations and identifying ions.
