GCE Wood Work
Woodwork 6030 revision covering safe hand-tool practice, timber technology, accurate layout, joint construction, fittings and furniture drawing and design.
The papers
Paper 1
Theory, Drawing and Design
Section I combines compulsory short written tasks with a choice of longer theory questions. Section II requires design sketches and scaled orthographic drawing, including sectional construction details.
Paper 2
Practical Test
Candidates make and fit a specified portion of a wooden article from prepared stock and working drawings. The held papers restrict adhesives and several abrasive or scraping tools; written practice here rehearses planning and accurate hand-tool methods.
